Finance CV writing service

Finance CVs that show more than
your qualifications.

Most candidates for a qualified role will have ACA, ACCA or CIMA after their name, so the letters alone won't separate you. What does is evidence that your work shaped decisions, which is where the ICAEW has been pushing the profession. We build that into your CV alongside the technical detail recruiters still check for.

Who it's for

Early career, senior finance or retraining into accountancy.

What your CV has to prove depends on your stage and on where you're applying, because practice and industry employers read finance CVs very differently. Here's how we handle each.

Early and mid-career
Set out your qualification clearly, with exam stage and expected completion if you're still studying, and the part-qualified designation if you have one. After that, the CV depends on where it's going. Practice firms often ask for ACA or ACCA by name and want to see the frameworks you've worked under, IFRS, FRS 102 or UK GAAP, with your technical skills ahead of your client list. In industry, CIMA is often the default in manufacturing, FMCG, tech and retail, and budgeting, forecasting and business partnering carry the weight.
Leadership
For financial controllers and heads of finance, the CV should read as a record of decisions. The margin you protected, the pricing call your analysis changed, the forecasting process you rebuilt so the board could rely on it. Above controller level, sector experience starts to count for more than which qualification you hold, so we make sure your sector background sits near the top.
Career changers
Plenty of accountants came to it later, often through AAT alongside an entry-level job. The usual way in is a transactional role like accounts assistant or accounts payable, where you build up experience of ledgers, reconciliations and month-end. We'll lead your CV with your study progress and any software you know, Xero or Sage for example, then bring across the parts of your previous job that show accuracy and a head for numbers.

The market

Qualified people are hard to find.

67%
of UK finance hiring managers would pay more for qualified talent
8+
weeks to fill many qualified finance roles
8-12%
salary premium for ACA over ACCA or CIMA in practice

Two thirds of UK finance hiring managers say they'd pay above their planned range to secure qualified talent, according to Robert Half's 2026 salary guide, and permanent roles for ACA, ACCA and CIMA-qualified accountants are regularly taking more than eight weeks to fill.

That demand sits mostly at the qualified, commercial end. Accountants with strong technical grounding and business partnering experience have plenty of options, while junior transactional roles and some graduate routes have softened as automation and cost pressure bite.

It's the shift the ICAEW has been describing for some time. As routine processing gets automated, the value of a qualified accountant moves towards influencing decisions, and your CV needs to show you can do that.
