IT CV writing service

Tech CVs that show what you've
built, run and fixed.

A recruiter gives your CV a few seconds on the first pass, so your stack and your best work need to be obvious. After that, a technical hiring manager wants substance: what the problem was, what you built or changed, and what difference it made. We write for both.

Who it's for

Early career, technical leadership or moving into tech.

Demand in UK tech has moved towards specialists and experienced people. Here's how we handle each stage.

Early and mid-career
Keep the stack current and cut anything you touched briefly years ago. It dilutes what you're good at, and you'll get calls about jobs you don't want. The technologies you do list should turn up again in your project descriptions, attached to the problem, how you solved it and what changed. If you hold SC clearance and it's still active, make that obvious. Plenty of government and defence roles can only consider candidates who already have it, and it lapses if it goes unused for too long.
Leadership
At lead or principal level, hiring managers are looking for the architecture decisions you made, the engineers you've mentored and the systems you've scaled or stabilised, far more than a list of languages. For engineering managers, team size and delivery against the roadmap sit alongside that, and the tooling moves further down the page.
Career changers
Most people moving into tech come in through a junior developer role, and with fewer of those around, the evidence has to be strong. Three to five working projects on GitHub, each with a short README explaining what you built and why, will do more for you than a list of courses. Don't hide your previous career either. Project management, stakeholder communication and problem-solving are all things engineering teams value, and they belong on your CV.

The market

Plenty of demand, just not everywhere.

2.15m
people work in UK tech
49%
of UK businesses have basic cyber skills gaps
30%
have gaps in advanced security skills

Around 2.15 million people worked in UK tech in 2025, and the sector is still growing slowly. The demand isn't evenly spread, though. Cloud and infrastructure, security, data engineering and AI implementation are where hiring is strongest, while generalist development, junior roles and non-specialist support have had a much harder time.

Security shows the gap clearly. Government research published in February found that 49% of UK businesses lack basic cyber skills such as configuring firewalls, and 30% have gaps in areas like penetration testing and forensic analysis.

At the junior end there are fewer openings than there used to be, and employers increasingly expect new starters to arrive ready to contribute. Whatever your level, that puts the weight on what you've already shipped.
