Legal CV writing service

Legal CVs built around
your practice and your matters.

A legal CV is read for three things first: your qualification and PQE, your practice area, and the matters you've worked on. We'll set those out clearly, describe your caseload or deal experience with the detail a partner or general counsel expects, and keep every claim precise. In law, the CV is also a sample of your work.

Who it's for

Early career, legal leadership or changing direction.

A City firm, a high street practice and an in-house team each read a legal CV differently. Here's how we approach each stage.

Early and mid-career
Put your qualification, admission date and PQE where a recruiter can read them in seconds, and say whether you qualified through the SQE or a training contract. Then show your practice area through real matters: two or three representative examples, your role on each, and values where you can share them. Caseload size and complexity count for litigators and private client lawyers, and accreditations like Higher Rights, STEP or Children Panel membership belong near the top. A line of context on the firm, its size or directory ranking, helps the reader place your experience.
Leadership
For senior associates, partners and heads of legal, the CV moves towards the practice you've built and the business side of it. Partners are read on client relationships, fees, team and how portable their practice is. In-house leaders are read on commercial judgement, the risk they've managed for the business and how they've run external counsel spend. Directory recognition, significant matters and the lawyers you've developed all earn a place.
Changing direction
The SQE has opened routes into law that didn't exist before 2021. You can qualify with a degree in any subject and two years of qualifying work experience, which can come from up to four organisations and must be confirmed by a solicitor. If you're coming in from another career, your CV should make the legal work you've already done easy to recognise. Lawyers moving between private practice and in-house need a similar translation, from billable matters to commercial outcomes for the business.

The market

A large profession, spread across the country.

214,773
solicitors on the roll in England and Wales
£38bn
contributed by legal services to the UK economy in 2024
364k
people employed in UK legal services, most outside London

There were 214,773 solicitors on the roll in England and Wales at the end of August 2026, according to the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Legal services contributed £38 billion to the UK economy in 2024 and employ around 364,000 people, and almost two thirds of those jobs are outside London.

That spread matters for your CV. A regional firm, a City practice and an in-house legal team are looking for different things, and the same experience needs presenting differently for each.
